Charnwood Museum Young Champions

Opportunity image

Make a difference in your local museum by joining our Charnwood Museum Young Champions. This opportunity will give you the tools and space to make a real difference in your local community.

The role will sit within the Making Leicestershire My Home project which seeks to celebrate the generations of movement, migration and settlement through highlighting the stories of home, belonging and connection across the county.

You are invited to share your thoughts and feedback in our monthly sessions. You will guide our work, giving us your opinions and insight to inform our events, exhibitions and activities. In return you will receive exciting opportunities to attend behind the scenes events and activities and the chance to learn from skilled cultural and heritage staff!

Following the success of our Cultural Youth Forums and the award winning Villiers Revealed project we are looking to continue our co-curation with the youth of Leicestershire! See the links to learn more about these exciting previous projects: https://www.cultureleicestershire.co.uk/projects/community-voices/youthforum/ https://www.cultureleicestershire.co.uk/projects/villiers-revealed-welcome-to-our-virtual-exhibition/

We would love our volunteers to feel empowered and passionate about the culture and heritage sector and about using this platform to make a positive change. You may have experience at school, college, in your apprenticeship or university or through your hobbies which demonstrate the creative leadership skills we need. Therefore if you are keen to share your ideas, excited to hear from others and make a difference then this is the role for you!

We welcome other ways of applying for this role, including through video or art work! Please get in touch with Becca at rebecca.fisher@leics.gov.uk
