We are looking for young people (13+ year olds) to be Summer Reading Champions for the upcoming Summer Reading Challenge.

As a Summer Reading Challenge Champion you will snag skills, help bring fun into libraries and be surrounded by your favourite books. Your volunteering would involve:

• Designing and creating eye-catching Summer Reading Challenge displays.

• Helping out at the Summer Reading Challenge Help Desk.

• Awarding participants with their well-deserved prizes and certificates.

• Cheering on children, and their accompanying adults, to browse the Summer Reading Challenge website.

• Jumping into action at children's events.

Join the adventure and apply

About the Summer Reading Challenge The Summer Reading Challenge is a nationwide initiative kicking off on Saturday 5th July and running until Saturday 6th September. The Summer Reading Challenge motivates children to read whatever makes them happy, including library books, eBooks and eAudiobooks or having a story read to them – and to have fun while they do it.

Time commitment We hope you can commit to a regular time during the school summer holidays. At the start of the challenge we would love your support at our sign up Saturdays. We will always try to accommodate you as we understand you combine volunteering with other responsibilities.

How to get involved There are several libraries in Leicestershire looking for volunteers - be sure to mention which libraries you would be able to support when applying.
